22 Feb Apple releases iPhone OS 3.1.3 update
Two weeks ago, Apple released the iPhone OS 3.1.3 update. According to the American software company, this new version contains some interesting bug fixes and improvements. For instance, the latest modification enables internet-tethering again.
The OS 3.1.3 update simplifies the use of applications created by other iPhone adepts. The Safari web browser has ameliorated and the automatic Wi-Fi login has a better performance from now on. In case of theft or loss, it will be possible to remotely lock your iPhone with a pin code via MobileMe. Also on the security side Apple has done efforts: for instance, the buffer overflow in the handling of MP4 audio files is now resolved. However, in view of the version number (not 3.2 but 3.1.3) the recent changes won't be that shocking to early iPhoners.
If you want to install this OS 3.1.3 update, connect your iPhone with iTunes and click ‘Search update’. Mobile Vikings customers might want to reinstall the new ipcc file after upgrading. This will install the correct settings for Mobile Vikings internet access.
Jailbreakers and unlockers must not install the update rashly as serious compatibility problems may occur. For more information, please consult specialized iPhone forums and blogs.

Wed 24 Feb 2010 11:00ik begrijp werkelijk niet hoe ik dat bestandje moet op iphone plaatsen. Ik deed de update naar 3.1.3 maar geen tetheringmogelijkheid. Als ik de blog volg h
kan ik die ipcc niet aanklikken. -

Wed 24 Feb 2010 17:30Je hoeft het ipcc bestand niet te installeren om tethering te activeren. De ervaring leert mij zelfs dat juist door de ipcc tethering niet meer mogelijk is. Indien na update 3.1.3 de tethering mogelijkheid niet verschijnt dien je een restore uit te voeren in iTunes. Daarna ga je op je iPhone naar Instellingen > Algemeen > Netwerk > Mobiel datanetwerk. Onderaan vul je bij internet tethering dezelfde gegevens in als bij gewone mobiele data (APN: web.be; Gebruikersnaam: web; Wachtwoord: web). Daarna terugkeren en bij Netwerk heb je dan normaal gezien de optie: Internet-tethering.

Dit is wel degelijk relevant om te plaatsen op de website van mobile vikings, want de activatie van tethering op iphone hangt af van je provider. Voordien konden enkel mobistar klanten tetheren dacht ik, maar niet de anderen.
Dit bericht is dus goede communicatie naar de klanten toe over de dienstverlening (ook al betreft het enkel de iphone, en was het de schuld van apple dat het voordien niet kon) -

This may be a solution!!In a command line window (start run -> cmd), enter
“C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1don't forget the quotes!
This sets ITunes back to its previous "flexibility"
Loading & activating ipcc files:
Connect your phone, select it in Itunes, Option click "check for updates" (shift click windows). Select the ipcc file you wish to update the phone with.
unmount phone, disconnect, and do a reboot (full power off and on again). New ipcc file should now be active.Many greets, a happy Mobile Viking user..
