22 Apr How to advertise Mobile Vikings pricing
Some users are confused about the way Mobile Vikings prepaid credit can be used in combination with free mobile internet and sms. This post proposes an alternative way to advertise our pricing.
The open communication we have with our users also means we get a lot of suggestions. Recently, there have been a few good remarks concerning our grace period. Some users like the fact that they can "go negative" with their internet bundle, others want to use their calling credit to the max to do some more free surfing.
To alleviate the confusion, we propose the following representation of our tariff:

The conditions of course remain the same: "1 GB free per top-up of €15 for the first 1000 blocks of 1 MB after a topup of €15 the charged rate is €0 as far as the first byte of the megabyte block is sent within 31 days after the topup.". It is just an attempt to make our offer a bit more clear.
Which one do you prefer?

Wed 22 Apr 2009 14:18And finally to be specificly more clear, we can just say :
60min.+ 1000 SMS + 1 GO DATA EDGE BASE = 15 €

Wed 22 Apr 2009 14:25The second one is not very clear... It's like you're offering 60 minutes free calls.
Just add 15EUR per month to the first one and it will be better.

Wed 22 Apr 2009 15:27I'd prefer the 2nd one. Are you going to offer 3G/3.5G support anytime soon? Or are you dependable on Base to upgrade their network?

Wed 22 Apr 2009 15:37I think the 2nd one is more clear (that's how I explain it to other people when they ask me what operator I'm with).
But on the other hand. If you go abroad for a week and use up some of the €15 for calling or data, then you no longer have 60 minutes to use in Belgium. So that again can be seen as misleading :s
So, I think it's best to use the 1st one, but add "€15/month"

Wed 22 Apr 2009 18:53I like the first one but add the 15 euro top up detail as mentioned before.
You can't say +60 minutes in the second because on average you'll call X minutes AND 30 seconds. So which each conversation you'll lose on average 30 seconds. 10 calls equals 5 lost minutes.
It only works if there's no connection cost and you charge per second starting from the first second.
I won't do that because it's more confusing (and strictly speaking incorrect).
(No offence by the way... just making things clear to everybody ;))

Thu 23 Apr 2009 09:51It looks like there is a consensus to keep the current representation but to add the 15 € top-up to it.
On the next release, we will update the price table with the amount of 15 €. -

Thu 23 Apr 2009 10:32In any case, it's a great initiative to ask the meaning of the active users and even take the result into account!
Makes this company and it's services trustworthy!
Some people apparently do know how to run a company. Congrats.

Fri 24 Apr 2009 14:58The first one is better, although the 15Euro top-up has to be mentioned.
Also is it true you pay for every minute you begin, so if you call for 61 seconds, you pay 48 cents? This might also be clearer.
But, overal, indeed a good initiative, too bad about the per minute rate.
