26 Mar Report of our "Nacht van Het Examen" sponsoring

Why don't we do something fun for a change? That was the start of our sponsoring adventure of Nacht van het Examen, a student event of Jobat and De Standaard.

What started as a simple idea, turned out to be quite an undertaking. Our small team had to come up with a promotion concept that was not too expensive, yet would appeal to the target audience of students.

We decided to cut the crap. No expensive video-promo production, no useless gadgets, no posh advertising. Our product is good enough to speak for itself. By offering 5.000 students a test SIM card, they can explore the wonderfull world of mobile internet for free during 1 month. To give them the full Mobile Vikings experience, we also let them create an account on our website, after which they can use 10€ calling credit and 1000 SMS.

The SIM card was presented together with a personalised fortune cookie. Students would crack their fortune cookie and discover their fortune like "Thou soon shall be surfing the internetwaves for free". When they opened up their envelope, they realise the promise is already fulfilled by the SIM card they have received.

Since the students had to fill out an exam in a cinema theatre, we also provided them with Mobile Vikings branded clipboards to attach their papers to. Most students took this handy clipboard home with them, which makes it a usefull and permanent form of advertising. No point in wasting trees on a bunch of unread flyers.

By coïncidence, 4 members of our team had brought their photo camera equipment with them. So we took the liberty of presenting our services as event photographers. The pictures will appear later today on the Facebook group of the event.

For students that are already a Mobile Vikings customer we are offering to exchange your test sim card for 10€ additional calling credit and a new bundle of 1GB of data and 1000 sms. If we missed you during the event, just send us your test sim card together with your name and phone number and we'll take care of it.
