8 Oct Someone just sent you a ShoVi!
First they created SMS… Then, they added images to the text and created MMS… Today is the day we give you… SVS - Short Video Service or just ShoVi.
The Mobile Vikings website now offers the possibility to send video and/or audio messages to your friends. Want to show your best mate one of your many Jack Ass impressions or want to remind your daughter she really needs to be home at 11 o’clock tonight? Send them a ShoVi!
If you’re not convinced yet, you will be now, because it’s easy and it’s free!
That’s right, this service is free of any charge whatsoever and it’s easy as cake. We’ve made it so even your ten year old son can send you a ShoVi demonstrating his latest karate tricks in just a couple of minutes.
Just go to this page and click on START. You’ll get a small pop-up window asking for permission to access your webcam. Click on Allow.
STEP 1 – Record your message. Point your webcam at whatever you want and click on the START RECORDING button. The maximum length of a message is 30 seconds, but you can stop recording anytime you want by clicking on the STOP RECORDING button. You can reset the video and start over if you’d like. Whenever you’re ready, simply click on the SEND TO A FRIEND button to access the next page.
STEP 2 – Send to a friend. Enter the Belgian cell phone number of your friend (even if he or she’s not a Mobile Viking yet!) and click on SEND.
You can choose to post your message on the website for everyone to see, or you can keep it private (remove the check mark for “Yes you can make this video public on the website”). We’ll highlight the most original public posts so you can start your career as a true web celebrity.
Now you’ve completed your end of the bargain. A few seconds later, your friend will receive an SMS. The only thing left to do for him or her is to click on the link in the SMS and your friend will see or hear the recorded video or audio message.
So, what are you still waiting for!?

(Enkel op iPhone getest)Maar het zou pas leuk worden als we filmpjes met de gsm konden opnemen en versturen...

Ik krijg de melding: "To view this movie, you should download and install the Adobe Flash player"
Die heb ik echter wel:

't Is natuurlijk wel dé ideale manier om mensen naar de website te lokken hé! Goed gezien! :)

Thu 08 Oct 2009 22:45Qik werkt hier !! (htc magic,hero rom), enkel degoutant traag met een edge verbinding ;-) en dan kun je wel filmkes doorsturen met gsm of zelf. Live laten bekijken en nu komt het : ook gratis :-)

Tue 13 Oct 2009 14:18het idee van de ShoVi's is dat ook niet-technisch aangelegde mensen eenvoudig vanop de website een videoboodschap kunnen sturen.
Door de encodering naar 3GP en doorsturen van een link via SMS kan de bestemmeling eenvoudig de video op zijn GSM bekijken.
That's all folks. Niks nieuw, niks technisch spannend, maar wel leuk voor de simpele gebruiker (er er komen meer en meer niet-techneuten bij Mobile Vikings).
