During the last two weeks, Mobile Vikings suffered several outages of it's GPRS network. Now it's time to do something back for our customers and give you a free 15€ topup.

The events started in the weekend of April 25th. During the night, the investigation revealed that the problem was situated in a datacentre of Scarlet. Apparently, the systems that our network partner Base uses to authenticate GPRS sessions are located in this datacentre.

The datacentre of Scarlet had major trouble in getting the power back on. Their problems resulted in a total of 4 outages up to yesterday. TV Vlaanderen, Scarlet internet users, Base internet, over 22.000 websites: they all went down due to the power problems. There was not much we could do. You can't just move out of a datacentre over the weekend. In the mean time, legal procedures are started and damage claims have been filed. But this does not mean anything for our users.

Because you all have been such great customers and stuck with us during these problems, we have decided to give every Mobile Viking a free topup of 15 €.

To allow you to use the 15 € when it is most convenient for you (e.g. when your previous topup expires), there will be a button "claim your free topup" in the "My Viking" section of our website. This button will be available as from this afternoon for the next 31 days. As soon as it is available, we will send every customer an email to let them know they can claim their free top up.
